April re-evaluates everything with Venus and Mercury stationary, and Venus lording it over a Libra Full Moon and Taurus New Moon!

The Astrology of April 2025 in a Νutshell...

April is a month of major re-evaluations, as we witness a nascent new world order in the making.

Both Mercury and Venus station direct and a lot can change by mid-month! Expect a new picture so slowly emerge this month, as new information comes to light followed by new choices and preferences to inform all future decision making. Yes, the world is slowly coming back online.

We’re coming off of an incredible March Equinox (with a Solar Eclipse as the first New Moon of a brand new year) and the race is on.

April is all about the ability to reboot our values, know our hearts and reassess our priorities so we can move forward dynamically in May. This is the most important task we have this April, with the month’s end calling us to put our new preferences into action in no uncertain terms.

Venus is the major player this month, with both of April’s lunations - a Full Moon in Libra on the 13th and a New Moon in Taurus on the 27th - in Venus’ signs. Venus is very slow right now, hovering around Saturn and the North Node for most of April, literally building a whole new value system in the astral plane, slowly, painstakingly, alongside a whole new network of relationships and agreements to take us into this brave new world in the making.

The first week of April is the most volatile with both Mercury and Venus retrograde hovering around Saturn and the North Node, calling for a course correction. Mercury, retrograde since mid-March, goes direct on April 7th creating commotion and giving everyone serious pause for thought.

Also on the 7th, Venus (who stations direct on the 13th) conjuncts Saturn causing consternation. To top it off, Monday the 7th is also when Mars falls back “in line”.

The time of posturing and bravado is at an end.

Time to get with the programme. Mars has been 'out of bounds' (partying wildly outside the Sun's trajectory) since the start of the year, not playing by the rules. Come April 7th the party is over. Time to come back into the fold.

Watch out for April 7th-13th, when Mercury is direct and Venus still retrograde and we are is still on highly unsteady ground. Information will keep coming to light at this time, while values, priorities and relationships are yet to be decided. Make no sudden moves but start to build back slowly, as you realise what’s most important.

By the 13th, it's Venus' turn to go direct, right on top of a Libra Full Moon, and all the pent up energy that's been held back since early March explodes in a phantasmagoria of colours!

This is a true love bomb of a Full Moon with Venus breathless and exalted in Pisces and the Libra Moon closely conjunct lucky star Spica. (If you look up in the sky you should be able to see that!) Venus is also hovering around Saturn of course, so there is an air of seriousness over it all. Still, this should be a helpful, uplifting lunation.

Things get sticky again in the last week of April, and it's time to make some serious decisions.

Come April 27th Mars clashes with do-or-die Pluto right across a most challenging Taurus New Moon! This is not for the fainthearted. Let's make sure we've done our homework so we know exactly where to stake our claim.

With Saturn and the North Node strongly connected and bonded to Venus all month long, April’s reassessment process sure is lengthy and sobering. Finances, relationships and questions of preferences moving forward are the cause of much consternation during this important reset of our entire value system and contractual space. But this combo is stabilising in the long term even if it involves some short term pain.   With Saturn sextile Uranus too, new and unexplored shores are calling us all, and it’s time to set our values and preferences on a whole new foundation. That is what the whole of April is for!

Now let’s check out the April 2025 astrology weather in more detail, week by week...

WEEK ONE: April 1st - 6th

April 1st-4th, Mercury and Venus conjunct the North Node: Uncharted Waters

April magnetises our world towards fresh values and preferences right from the get go, as Venus and then Mercury meet with the Lunar Nodes in Pisces and Virgo on the 1st and 4th respectively. This is totally uncharted territory. We are sailing toward the unknown.

New priorities are blossoming inside a cocoon now - eery, strange, different than anything we’ve known before. New ideas are starting to shape the world, seeping in from the astral...

The first week of April could feel rather off ’out there’ while a whole new set of values and ideas are being birthed ‘in here’. This is a deeply spiritually fruitful time. We will have a chance to test and adjust these nascent states of heart and mind all throughout April, especially at the New and Full Moons, as Venus and Mercury rejoin the North Node. For now, put out your feelers and test your intuition!

April 4th, Saturn sextiles Uranus: The End of an Era

The first weekend of April presents us with an incredible opportunity to move swiftly from the past to the future. This is thanks to the closing sextile between Saturn and Uranus, energised by Mars. This aspect, active all year long, is our chance to implement changes easily and quickly, to stop fretting about, set aside fear, absorb the lessons of the past and lightly leapfrog into the future.

Time to embrace change with ease. This place of greater freedom and lightness might feel strange at first. But the fullness of time has come. The socio-economic cycles seeded in the late 1980s are now rapidly coming to a close and their rules are starting to fail. This year presents us with the unique opportunity to try something new, whilst also salvaging key lessons from the past. (The last time we had this aspect was 1980 which saw the election of Ronald Reagan and the death of John Lennon, as well as things like the first Post It notes and Pacman. It also saw highly volatile markets.)

In a nutshell? The first week of April opens us all up to the realm of infinite possibility! It's an opportunity to step beyond our usual bounds.

April 6th, Mars trine Venus, Sun Sextile Jupiter: Have fun!

Sunday the 6th, in particular, is a lovely, energetic and expansive day, excellent for romance, socialising, gaining allies and bringing it home - whatever it is you’re passionate about.

WEEK TWO: April 7th-13th

April 7th, Mercury Direct, Venus conjunct Saturn: A Sobering!

Monday April 7th brings a serious reality check amid surprising news. Mercury stations direct hovering closely around Saturn and the North Node and news could be sobering, and slightly disorienting. Deliberations are still unfolding. On the same day, Venus conjuncts Saturn in Pisces impressing upon us the seriousness of this ongoing re-evaluation process we’re still in.

Best take things slow and do not jump the gun now as the situation slowly stabilises. Information will keep coming to light over the coming days.

This is only the beginning of a major coalescing of new values and preferences that won’t be fully complete until the final week of April.

Let’s use this time to test these emerging values and preferences, as well as any new creative thoughts, romantic inklings or spiritual insights for their real world value.

Come Tuesday the 8th, an oddball of a day, Venus sextiles Uranus and things are sure to move in every which direction in little quantum jumps. All this just serves to get us unstuck from our old way of assessing things.

April 7th, Mars Inbound: Fall Back In Line

Also on Monday April 7th, Mars, who has been partying out there on his own, doing as he pleases since the very start of 2025, now gets back in line within the dictates of the Sun (i.e. re-enters the well-trodden bounds of the ecliptic). Mars has been 'out of bounds', veering way north of the ecliptic and calling the shots for just over three months now, since the end of 2024, operating beyond accepted constraints, without rules or oversight. These have been huge months of change and upheaval but the party is over, for now at least. (And isn't it funny how Trump, who has Mars strong, conjunct his Ascendant, and Musk, whose Mars is powerful and conjunct the eclipse points, have both been making huge waves during that freewheeling time!)

Past April 7th it’s time for everyone to start falling back in line and observing the usual and socially accepted constraints to action. And so, things begin to regain some kind of normalcy once more - albeit in new and unfamiliar territory, as a major reassessment of values and relationships is still underway.

April 11th, North Node conjunct Mercury trine Mars: Magnetic Thoughts and Deeds

And so we come to Friday April 11th. This is a great day for connecting the dots, speaking out and putting thoughts into action. Ideas now have a mind of their own, a sort of propelling energy. Mercury, now direct, conjuncts the North Node in forward motion, only missing Mars by a hair’s breadth, who then trines the Node in turn. What an incredibly energising combo!

Network, listen, speak up! Meetings and conversations could radically change our thinking and move us toward our goals. New horizons are calling us all. Something about the 11th feels magnetic, aligned, pulling us toward a new north.

April 12th-13th, Libra Full Moon, Venus Direct: Love Bomb!

And so we come at the most incredible weekend of the month, April 12th-13th and the Libra Full Moon. This is a Micromoon, when the Moon is furthest away from the earth, and it arrives at 24 degrees Libra at 01:22 BST (00:22 UT) just as Saturday gives way to Sunday. Like a dense, concentrated laser beam, this Full Moon is sure to hit the spot. For not only does it arrive on the day that Venus stations direct in her sign of exaltation; not only does it trine benevolent Jupiter; but it also sits right next to bright and lucky star Spica (the brightest star in the constellation of Virgo) currently sitting at 24 degrees of Libra!

In fact, you can see the Moon and lucky Spica side by side in the night sky on Saturday night!

To top things off, Arcturus, the benevolent watcher in our northern skies, (the brightest star in the constellation Bootees, the shepherd) also aligns beautifully with this Full Moon bringing its hugely protective energies to bear for a positive outcome. What a bonanza! How’s that for luck and protection?

This Full Moon is a veritable phantasmagoria of colour, an explosion of love, beauty and pleasure, a love bomb! Whilst we’re sure still in turmoil, and going through a narrow passage, this Full Moon can only be good news.

Venus, the ruler of this explosive Full Moon stations direct barely forty minutes later, at 02:02 BST (01:01UT) at 25 degrees Pisces.

All that pent up yearning and desire that’s been bottled up ever since Venus first went retrograde on March 2nd now bursts onto the scene, ripe for release!

This exalted energy hits bull’s eye with the Libra Full Moon, paving the way for new contracts, relationships and agreements that are sure to reshape the landscape. Venus in Pisces is nothing if not idealistic, symbolising the highest values and most refined sentiments. And now the penny drops. The old ways won’t do. We’re in new territory now. Venus stations close to Saturn and the North Node and these nascent preferences and relating patterns are being set in stone as we speak, demanding seriousness, discipline and accountability on our part. They may not be quite visible yet, but they are a solid foundation for the future.

Despite these effulgent Venusian energies, this Full Moon is no push-over.

The Sun in Aries is exactly conjunct Chiron and Eris at this Full Moon bringing the light of consciousness to bear on so much pent up rage and resentment felt by disgruntled populations world-wide, who have had enough of being vilified, disenfranchised and left out of the party.

Restoring balance - indeed civilisation! - is now the name of the game, even if things have to get worse to get better, and even if some of the noise being made can seem uncouth.

Mars is also active, squaring the Sun and Moon and making sure that action is being taken to tackle issues that have long been swept under the carpet. With Neptune freshly in Aries, Mars’ sign, this is the first time we are called to don the mantle of the spirit warrior and became the heroes in our own lives. This is no time to dwell in victim consciousness or shy away from confrontation.

Note that this is the first non-eclipse lunation in Libra since the eclipses started there in 2023.

It’s time to take stock and see how the scales have shifted in the past couple of years.

This is especially so in all things Libra: our relationships and agreements, our choices, our culture and political landscape, our justice and legal systems!  Where are we at? Where have things gotten way out of whack? How do we want to move forward from here on in? April’s process of re-assessment thus reaches a dramatic climax at this Libra Full MicroMoon.

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is a butterfly with a third wing on its left side. The butterfly is a symbol of transformation, the left side is often associated with the intuition. Despite the slight grotesque nature of this image, something powerful is released at this point. It’s like a new spiritual faculty is being activated, an upgrade is being released. It won’t happen overnight of course. But whatever has just come online is now available for us to tap into and embody as and when we are ready.

One could say, this Full Moon brings our inner 'spiritual technologies', temporarily lost over the centuries, back online.

Time to start flexing those muscles. The stars are watching...

WEEK THREE Easter Week: April 14th-20th

April 16th, Mercury in Aries: Ideas in Motion

By Monday the 14th, we’re still reeling from that powerful Libra Full Moon as the Sun completes his conjunction with freedom fighter and justice seeker dwarf planet Eris. The Moon is in Scorpio by this point the positive mutations promised by the Full Moon are well underway.

Come Wednesday the 16th, Mercury direct gets back into Aries bringing greater focus to thought and speech. This is a creative, diffuse kind focus thanks to Neptune, also in Aries. Still, Mercury in Aries awakens more assertive speech and faster reasoning powers.

Mercury in Aries meets Neptune on the 17th when new and pioneering inspiration hits. This combo has not happened since the mid 19th century. Make a note and see what ideas emerge!

False stories could also hit the news, however, reminding us that reality is extremely malleable and subject to our perceptions.

Things begin to heat up in this second half of April. Mercury’s now in a fire sign, and Mars and Venus are soon to join. A hammer is being wielded as we speak, to galvanise us to action. Meanwhile, Jupiter clashes with Pluto, and our godly rights of freedom thought, speech and movement meet with a powerful, technological controlling force.

Mars in Leo April 18th: Call Forth Your Inner Leader!

Right on cue on Good Friday April 18th, Mars enters fire sign Leo, for a dramatic kick off to the bank holiday weekend. Time for some bold action!

Mars last backtracked out of Leo and into Cancer on January 6th, whilst retrograde, having spent two months in Leo since November 4th. With Mars' re-entry into Leo, what has been a long and highly dramatic transition over the past five months (since the US election) now reaches its climax. Mars is now heading for his final face off against Pluto in Aquarius bang on the New Moon of April 27th.  Get ready for a volcanic showdown!

April 19th, Sun in Taurus: Slow Down and Smell the Roses

By Saturday the 19th the Sun enters Taurus: Happy Birthday Taurus! The Taurus Sun is now trying his best to slow down this fiery pace and allow for some grounding, temporarily assisted by a sober Capricorn Moon. This isn't so easy, given that both the Sun and Moon will soon square off against Mars and Pluto.

Still, we have some helpful aspects building on the bank holiday weekend: Mars trines Neptune on Saturday, firing up the imagination, enhancing all kinds of religious and spiritual experience and lending a magical hue to every creative endeavour. Then, on Easter Sunday, Venus sextiles Uranus and Mercury sextiles Pluto opening the door to opportunities for exciting encounters, fun times and romance, as well as deep thoughts, revelations, and conversations.

WEEK FOUR: April 21st-27th

April 21st-23rd, The Sun squares Mars and Pluto: A Firecracker!

It’s in this final week of April that everything finally kicks off. We have a firecracker of a bank holiday / Easter Monday, April 21st, when the Sun squares off against Mars, Pluto and the Moon. It may be impossible to sit still on this volcanic energy now rising up from the deep. Anger (or anything else!) now erupting has been brewing for some time.  Time to take the bull by the horns and wrestle. The waiting is over. This is a time of action.

The Moon is now waning, reaching its final quarter, and a shift in consciousness is also required. The Sun-Pluto square perfects two days later on the Wednesday the 23rd, making us deeply aware of our survival fears and instincts. These are days of great intensity, leading up to the 27th and the do-or-die Taurus New SuperMoon - perhaps April's trickiest week.

April 21st, Saturn conjuncts North Node: Take Responsibility For Your Future

Also on Monday the 21st, Saturn in Pisces quietly conjuncts the North Node in Pisces and it’s time to take responsibility for the future trajectory of humanity. The promise of the March eclipses is made real and tangible now. This calls for a mature approach. Time to sit up and pay attention. We all have duties and responsibilities and we cannot run from them any more.

This is a serious moment of realignment with our true spiritual north.

April 24th-25th, Venus conjuncts Saturn and North Node: Decision Time

Right on cue, on the 24th and 25th, Venus arrives on top of Saturn and the North Node, this time in direct forward motion. Time to make a serious commitment!

Some lengthy deliberation may now be required so we can make a responsible choice that listens to the soul’s call for growth.

This week completes the major re-evaluation process that fell into uncharted waters on April 1st and became ongoing and serious by April 7th. This final pass of Venus over Saturn and the Nodes is sure to leave us in no doubt as to the slow course correction we’re now undergoing, complete with a total reset of priorities.

April 26th, Mercury Exits Retrograde Shadow: Fresh Thoughts

By the 26th Mercury in Aries moves beyond the degrees that bogged him down in the last two months.

Mercury now leaves his retrograde shadow, coming fully online, awake and firing on all cylinders. Time to finally think new thoughts!

Whatever has been plaguing our minds since March, keeping part of our systems down, busy processing and reviewing data, can now release its grip.

Indeed, the 24th-27th is a crucial time for figuring out what’s what. And in the nick of time! The 27th brings a truly powerful Taurus New SuperMoon that will raise the game on a whole new level.

April 27th, Taurus New SuperMoon, Mars opposite Pluto: The Earth Rumbles!

April’s Taurus New SuperMoon arrives on the 27th, at 8 degrees of Taurus, at 20:31 BST (19:31 UT) coinciding with Mars opposite Pluto square to the Sun and Moon in a huge, immobile, fixed cross. This is no picnic. If your birthday falls within five days either side of this, you can expect a truly powerful, challenging and transformative time ahead that calls on you to show your mettle.

For all of us, it’s time to adopt the brace position, and be ready to stand our ground and consolidate what's of greatest value to us.

Fixed crosses create entrenchment and stalemate. This new beginning, doing battle across the fixed signs, calls for towering strength and stamina to slowly push through the blockade. The Moon is at its closest approach to the earth (hence the "super"moon) exerting a larger than normal gravitational pull. At the same time, Mars opposes Pluto for the third and final pass, bang on this Taurus New Moon, (with the last two oppositions back on November 3rd and January 3rd) demanding we summon up the energy to face off against our survival fears and bring about change. The challenge here is to avoid a purely instinctual fight or flight response.

We are now called to bring the light of consciousness and our newly redefined values to bear on our actions and choices.

Like with the Libra Full Moon, April’s Taurus New Moon is by Venus, currently hovering around Saturn and the North Node. It’s all down to our own choices here, our rapidly maturing, and carefully reevaluated and readjusted priorities, our willingness to embrace the unknown and the need to move toward growth, even if it feels scary or unfamiliar. The transformative changes now activated will unfold in early May and over the next six months.

How we take these transformative energies forward now depends on the values and preferences we have arrived at throughout the long reevaluation of March and April.

With Mars trine Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Mercury and the Lunar Nodes and sextile Uranus, there are certainly many positive outlets for the volcanic energy that's now crystallised into a seed of action. Taurus is the quintessential earth sign and this Taurus New Moon could certainly make the earth rumble. It could signal a transformative battle over values and financial matters, as well as the earth’s resources such as food, energy, nature, or precious metals.

The Sabian Symbol for the Taurus New Supermoon is a sleigh on land uncovered by snow. There is something uncanny about this image, perhaps pointing at the our planet in a whole new way. Are we about to make some discovery under the melting ice caps? There is certainly an air of inescapability to this image. For surely, anything left in place and hidden by the passing seasons is sure to be uncovered once certain cycles of nature are complete. Whatever has been temporarily hidden will eventually be revealed. And there is value in anticipating and preparing for such a change of circumstance.

Understanding the life is cyclical seems to be part and parcel of this New Moon. Are we about to find something? Do we need to face something? Or do we need to head it off at the pass? Interestingly the sleigh is an abandoned artificial object. Whatever new frontiers this Taurus New Supermoon opens up for us, there is emphasis here on tuning into life’s cyclical nature so we can develop future-oriented vision.

APRIL'S END... 28th-30th

Venus Enters Aries April 30th: Love Renewal

After planting some dramatic seeds on the 27th, April ends with an exciting sense of renewal, as Venus direct re-enters Aries on April 30th, heading for a conjunction with romantic dreamer Neptune. Paving the way for this beautiful event, we have the Taurus Moon meet Uranus on the 28th-29th and head toward uplifting Jupiter in Gemini to welcome May with due honours! Time to act in accordance with our new values and preferences, even if it means overwriting old desires, no longer relevant. With Uranus approaching a sextile to the North Node too, May enters on a promise of innovation, and a chance for freedom and rebirth.
