Astrology March 2025 Astro Weather Forecast

March is a seminal month - perhaps one of the most important of 2025 - as March's astrology calls for a major reassessment on every front!

It’s time to rethink everything as we find ourselves at the threshold of a brand new era.

March brings us the Spring 2025 eclipses: a Virgo Total Lunar Eclipse on the 14th (the first of its kind) and an Aries Partial Solar Eclipse on the 29th (the last of it’s kind); it hosts both Venus retrograde and Mercury retrograde, just when Mars has just about gone direct; and most crucial of all, Neptune enters Aries on March 30th for the first time in 164 years. Talk about a tall order!

We find ourselves in the midst of huge universal currents carrying our world into new directions whilst we hang in suspension…

The best thing to do is to relinquish all expectations; to stay poised and ready to pounce - like a cat - body and mind perfectly aligned, all senses heightened, waiting to see what flies in through the window. Let’s break this month down into weekly manageable time chunks.

WEEKEND 1-2 MARCH: VENUS STATIONS RETROGRADE

The action begins as soon as the first weekend of March, with Mercury crossing over the Neptune-North Node threshold and Venus stationing retrograde.  The Sun also squares Jupiter for good measure.

The start of March is a moment to let go of any ideas stemming from the limited mind and hand your mental reins over to the cosmos.  Let divine inspiration flow!

Said inspiration flows abundantly on the 1st and 2nd thanks to Mercury conjunct Neptune and the North Node. All we need do is tap in and turn on. This might be harder than it sounds, as our consciousness is likely to hold onto its own vision of what should happen, to its own self-importance, and to all the things it thinks it knows or fervently believes, all thanks to Sun square Jupiter. It may be uncomfortable, but it’s time to ditch Limiting ideas and grow our field of vision, possibility and understanding. It’s time to make space for more than we already know.

Most importantly, this is the weekend that Venus stations Retrograde in Aries (just past midnight GMT/UT on Sunday March 2nd).

Time to begin the famed  journey of fourty days and nights into the desert… There, we may well be tempted by various mirages, become noticeably parched of joys and pleasures, or even chance upon an oasis against all odds, only to know that we cannot stay there for long...

It is time to reset our priorities.

Venus stays retrograde all the way until April 13th and this is going to be a long, solitary journey into the true nature of our affections, values and desires. Venus retrograde in Aries is quite Spartan, and can more easily go without. The emptiness of this desert is exactly there to clarify what we value most, so that we can begin attracting it into our lives with renewed vigour starting mid-April to mid-May.

Venus is still a bright evening star at this point, visible even into the night, effulgent, beautiful, conjunct a young crescent Moon on the 2nd, as she says her goodbyes...

Venus hanging low and bright in the evening sky focuses our attention on what matters most. As Venus begins her journey back toward the Sun she will slowly remove various layers of veneer until we are left with the naked truth.

Venus stations retrograde at 10 degrees Aries and will backtrack all the way back into Pisces at the end of March, going direct at 24 degrees of Pisces on April 13th. The last time Venus went retrograde in near identical fashion in Aries-Pisces was early March to mid-April 2017. Does your diary our photo-stream throw up any clues as to what went down for you back then? Of course the world is hardly the same place. But something about your experience of it will be.

WEEK 3-10 MARCH: SUN TRINE MARS

The first full week of March is our singular greatest opportunity to charge our batteries for the madness that lies ahead.

For we are already in eclipse season and the next two weeks are zingers! Venus is now retrograde and our journey of initiation has begun. On Monday 3rd and Wednesday 5th Mercury enters Aries and then sextiles Pluto, giving us a direct opportunity to begin transforming our thinking. By Friday the 8th, a long awaited Sun-Mars trine kicks in for some action, delivering a huge energy boost.

With Mars recently direct (and still out of bounds), whatever’s been in the works for the past many months, dragging on and draining our energy, can now begin to move forward in earnest. But in which direction? We need to have a major re-assessment first - a rethink. For, in addition to Venus, Mercury is also in his retrograde shadow at this point, and about to hit the retros on March 15th.

With both Venus and Mercury retrograde past March 15th, much of our moving forward may well have to do with important endings. Think of this early-March to mid-April period as a major closing of a chapter in your life.

As we head toward March 15th, it's good to start wrapping up old projects and ideas, in preparation for a major review and re-evaluation on all fronts.

WEEK 11-16 MARCH: VIRGO TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE and MERCURY RETROGRADE

And here we are, mid-March. This is the moment of truth! We’ve a Virgo Total Lunar Eclipse Blood Moon on the 13th-14th - the first of its kind - opposite Saturn and trine Uranus. And we have Mercury stationing Retrograde on the 15th, right on the heels of the Blood Moon, and just past a lovely little conjunction with retrograde Venus too. This is revelation time. We may need to backpedal and backtrack, to suspend all thought as valuable information comes to light. Take time to think. No impulsive acts.

Wait and find out what you do not yet know before you make any final decisions!

Eclipses precipitate events. If your hand is forced and a situation has reached its natural conclusion, then so be it. Eclipses deliver big news. If the news give you pause for thought, however, then take time to mull things over. We've got another eclipse coming at March's end, and if there are decisions still to be made, you’ll want to know the full deal before you go all in.

This is a Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse conjunct the South Node - a time of endings, karmic reapings, and major clarification, shutting the door on matters past.

Again, you won’t really be fully equipped with all the data until mid-end April so let's take it slow. With everything going on, you may well have a change of heart and mind by mid-April.

The eclipse week starts with Mercury conjunct Venus on the 11th-12th.

Mercury and Venus may highlight a relationship, agreement or financial matter that's been limping along and may currently be in limbo or hang in the balance.

If the world does not yet make sense it is because we do not have all the facts. This is an incredibly volatile period, financially and relationship-wise.

The Sun conjuncts Saturn on the same day, the 12th laying down the law. This is a limiting, solidifying influence - a big reality check around proper boundaries and red lines that ought not be crossed. Appraised of these definite parameters, we can now begin to make a more realistic reassessment of our position and plan the year ahead.

Sun-Saturn does not happen in a vacuum. For Saturn is approaching sextile to Uranus, and we haven't had one of those since 1997 - and 1980 before that. This is one of these rare aspects that arrive every 17 years or so - and it's one of the defining and more positive and uplifting aspects of Spring 2025.

This is our chance to match tradition with innovation, freedom with responsibility, and problems with solutions!

By the 14th, the Sun sextiles Uranus offering some innovative, liberating ways to work within whatever limits we’ve got.

It is amid all this that the powerful Virgo Total Lunar Eclipse arrives on the 14th, at 24 degrees of Virgo at 06:54UT/GMT, closely connecting with both Saturn and Uranus.  This is a South Lunar Node eclipse, highlighting the results of past actions. And it is a Total Lunar Eclipse and a Full Moon, a powerful culmination, a completion, closing one door for good so another can be opened. Find out more about the North Node in Pisces and South Node in Virgo 2025-26, which colour the eclipses of 2025-26!

Virgo is nothing if not solution-oriented. Practical matters are highlighted now. Attention to detail is key. Time to find the most efficient and workable way forward.

Make no mistake, this is a time of action! Time to resolve conflict through diplomacy; time to correct past mistakes; time to recover some of our lost innocence and even work toward peace. Health matters, employment, AI systems and bureaucracies are majorly highlighted now as long overdue karmic chickens come home to roost. How we treat our children, and questions of innocence and vulnerability may also be highlighted - as is our own innocence, child-likeness and vulnerability - with a most tender Sabian Symbol for this eclipse: “Mary and her little lamb”. This eclipse is a major acupressure clearing point so we can move with a lighter step toward the future.

It only adds to the tension that Mercury, the eclipse ruler, is breathless in the sky right at this point. Mercury, currently in Aries, stations retrograde on March 15th to stay so until April 7th.

March 15th to April 7th is heavily given to reviewing, revisiting and rethinking a whole bunch of stuff, meticulously researching all the facts. Financial matters are sure to be at the forefront of these ruminations, thanks to Venus and Mercury going retrograde in tandem - these, and matters of the heart.

As noted, do not jump the gun! See what the March-April 2025 ‘eclipse-and-retrograde” season reveals first before you make any final decisions. Mercury stations at 9 degrees Aries on the 15th and backtracks all the way back into Pisces at the end of March where he stations direct at 26 degrees on April 7th.

This is a time to turn inward, for the outside world will make little sense. All the answers right now lie within.

WEEK 17-23 MARCH: SPRING EQUINOX 2025

As we hit the third week of March, Venus has pretty much disappeared from the evening sky (for most latitudes) and is nowhere to be found. It is in this strange, discomforting, and eery climate that we welcome the Spring Equinox of 2025. This is when the Sun enters Aries at 09:01UT/GMT on March 20th. Paving the way for the Equinox on the 20th, the Sun conjuncts first the North Node and then Neptune making the whole of the 17th-20th March crucial as a time of re-alignment.

On the 17th, the Sun conjuncts the North Node pointing to our true north, aligning us with a sense of purpose and direction. Then, on the 19th, the Sun and Neptune conjunct for a poignant moment of inspiration and letting go. This is a softening and pummelling of our consciousness, a refinement of our vital force, to make it more porous and able to receive divine inspiration and guidance. Armed thus, on March 20th, the Equinox arrives and the world is reborn, presaging an even greater rebirth that will begin February-March 2026, when Neptune and Saturn meet in that very same spot, the Equinox point of 0 degrees Aries - an event that hasn’t happened for thousands of years.

There is a huge consciousness shift occurring right now at the most subliminal level. Let’s take a moment this Spring to let go of the past, tune inwards, and step into the unknown…

The minute the Equinox kicks in, Venus retrograde takes the reins, closely followed by Mercury retrograde, ready to conjunct the fresh springtime Sun.

This Equinox signals a powerful tuning inwards, intent on making us keenly aware of our choices and preferences. What do we value most? What we truly think, know or understand?

Venus is at her closest to the earth now (her ‘perigee’). Venus’ inferior conjunction with the Sun arrives on March 23rd at 01:07 GMT/UT. This is the moment that Venus dies as the Evening Star to be reborn as the Morning Star. It is when she trades in her silken gowns for armour, when she dies as a lover to be reborn as a warrior.

The 23rd signals the last breath of worn-out joys and pleasures and the seeding of new and powerful desires at the very recess of our consciousness. These new seedlings will lead the charge of our hearts all the way until November 2025.

Over the next few days, Venus will gradually begin to rise ahead of the Sun at sunrise, appearing on the eastern sky as the Morning Star, the bringer of dawn. This is Venus the warrior, eager to bring about the desired objectives! Pluto sextiles Venus and the Sun on the 21st-23rd, only intensifying the do-or-die nature of the desires born at the Spring Equinox of 2025, and their potential to transform our world over the next eighteen months.

Venus’ Inferior Conjunction is at 3 degrees Aries, its Sabian Symbol “the cameo profile of a man suggesting the shape of his country”. This is quite a political image. It indicates a greater identification and participation with collective events and currents. The importance of these times collectively, and of how our own personal choices have the power to shape the collective, is also borne out by the excessive emphasis on 0 degrees Aries this March, April and May, at the very hinges of the world.

WEEK 24-30 MARCH: ARIES SOLAR ECLIPSE & NEPTUNE IN ARIES!

Come March 24th, it’s Mercury’s turn to meet the Sun, back to back with Venus, in sextile to Pluto. This is Mercury’s Inferior conjunction with the Sun, planting new ideas into the heavily ploughed (by this point) and fertile fields of our mind. Pluto’s presence (exact on the 25th) only sharpens our X-ray vision and the power of these ideas to transform our thinking.

March’s final eclipse arrives on the 29th, amid a highly volatile environment, a crazy game of musical chairs...

For between March 27th-30th Venus and Mercury both backtrack into Pisces, and enter the great void - at the same time switching places with Neptune, who enters Aries lending the world a brand new aura... Mark the 27th-30th in your calendar. Both Venus and Mercury meet with Neptune as they cross over, at the very final, critical and most unstable Pisces degree - a degree of endings of oceanic proportions. This is a point of dissolution.

First Venus enters Pisces and meets Neptune on the 27th - a moment of great yearning, romance, poignancy and longing. Then in the early hours of the 30th, Mercury and Neptune switch places, as Mercury enters Pisces and catches Neptune as he's out the door.

By the 30th, the deed is done. All that remains is to figure out what just happened. For it may have been a most disorienting three-card-trick. And a whole new game is now afoot...

It’s amid this mad switcharoo, this trompe-l’oeil, that we get the Aries Partial Solar Eclipse on March 29th, the last of its kind, at Aries 10 degrees, at 10:57 UT / GMT.  This closes a highly political and aggressive cycle of events that began in mid-late 2023, and brings to an end three years of eclipses in warring Mars-ruled signs, since early 2022.

Mars is the ruler of this Aries Solar Eclipse and, a few days prior, on the 26th, Mars squares Chiron, highlighting a whole world of hurt and anger that needs to be handled. New dynamic efforts to heal such hurt can gain traction now, picking up where we left off last October, or perhaps where our efforts were temporarily knocked back in early February - for that is when Mars retrograde went over that sensitive point again and again.

It's time for some serious healing and repair. This is a delicate moment, when we may feel our wounds gaping open, vulnerable and exposed to the elements.

No sudden moves! With so many moving parts as we welcome Spring 2025, it’s crucial to pay close attention (both within and without) for some majorly shifting goalposts.

Mercury and Venus retrograde in Pisces are sure to cast us adrift for a while as we enter April, with only our intuition as our compass.  This is a monastic kind of energy.

Let go of trying to make sense of things for now, and let data sift through slowly, like the drip-drip-drip of a triple distilled spirit. It will take another good few weeks to let any changes of heart, new information or insights slowly sink in. We’ve got a glut of planets spanning Pisces and Aries at this point, the symbolic start and end of the entire zodiac (the circle of life).

Let's take a breath as we step through that magical threshold that is the March Equinox of 2025 - a multi-seeding process for subtle transformation into a whole new state of being.

To move forward, we first need to release old things that trigger us, and to let our inner eye move from mere opinion to true foresight. This chimes in with the Sabian Symbol for this Aries Solar eclipse: “a teacher gives new symbolic forms to traditional images.”

It’s time to reimagine our world.

The design we’ve drawn so far has become a bit of a smudge and it’s time to turn the page and revisit our attitudes at the threshold of a brand new era. This is the subtle birth of a whole new dimension of consciousness in the making.

Neptune in Aries 2025-2038: The Birth of Fresh Fighting Spirit

Neptune enters Aries on March 30th to stay until October 22nd, then on January 26th 2026 to stay until May 22nd 2038! Neptune in Aries brings forth a brand new vision for our world, one we’ve not been in the grip of since 1861-74, when Neptune was last in Aries. (Check out what happened in April 1861, when Neptune entered Aries for the first time in the mid-19th century. The American civil we started April 1861. History need not repeat itself, as we live in a totally new world now. But the next few years will be crucial for the US future.)

Our world is dissolving and being redrawn before our very eyes. Our job is to emerge from the abyss, fresh as a babe, pure of intent, with a fighting spirit, and a sense of true wonder for what lies ahead.

More on this as we move forward. In the meantime check out Astrology 2025: A New World for a new Human.

We’re fast entering a new age of heroes. Nobody is coming to our rescue but ourselves. This realisation involves a massive letting go, in forgiveness and compassion, alowing us to emerge end of March as a new born babe from the edge of the abyss.
